NABR President Presents Biomed’s Viewpoint in New York Times Piece on “Enforcing the Legal Rights of Animals”

NABR President Frankie Trull contributed “Don’t Let Animal Rights Restrict Biomedical Research” in answer to New York Times’ questions about the prosecution of animal abusers and the extent of animals’ legal rights.

After a Times article about a man accused of violently kicking a stray cat attracted more than 1,600 comments, the newspaper followed up with a “Room for Debate” section at its opinion pages entitled, “Enforcing the Legal Rights of Animals."

In addition to Trull’s view, Pepperdine School of Law Professor Richard L. Cupp, Jr. also offered a thoughtful opinion, “Animal Cruelty Laws Don’t Depend on Animal Rights.” Four additional “debaters” participated.
