The chimpanzee plays a critical and unique role in life-saving research.  While a significant amount of work with chimps is behavioral in nature, they have also provided us with vaccines against hepatitis B, hepatitis A and many other infectious diseases.  Chimpanzees are also making important contributions towards stem cell research and the fight against cancer.  To see the fact sheet about the critical role of chimpanzees in research, click here.
