Membership
Institutions, organizations and companies which are (1) involved directly in the use of animals in research, education or product safety testing and (2) committed to the responsible and humane use of these animals are invited to join the National Association for Biomedical Research (NABR). While NABR does not offer individual memberships, each member institution may have multiple people on our mailing list. We suggest including the following people on the mailing list: research administrators, institutional veterinarians, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee members, government and public affairs staff, and security directors. You also may want to include laboratory animal care technicians, faculty or research staff, and pro-research student groups.

Each member institution is asked to designate a principal contact to be responsible for the following:

• Encouraging others to communicate directly with members of Congress, state legislators and regulators.
• Distributing NABR UPDATEs and ALERTs to interested parties.
• Disseminating periodic NABR information.
• Responding to requests for input, such as drafts of regulatory comments or position statements.
• Supplying information about events or activities related to the animal research issue which occur at your institution.
• Voting on behalf of the institutional member.
• Renewing institutional membership each year.
• Advising NABR on how to be more effective and meet your needs as a member.
