Biomedical Research
Biomedical research involves the work done by scientists from many fields to improve the health and well being of humans and animals through the development and implementation of new and improved practices in clinical medicine. Scientific disciplines of biomedical research include, but are not limited to:  public health research, including epidemiology, preventive medicine and behavioral health; cancer research; aging research; endocrinology, including neuroendocrinology and diabetes research; cellular biology; molecular biology; pharmacology, including psychopharmacology; neuroscience; genetics; and virology.    

The goal of a scientist engaged in biomedical research is to take his/her research from the bench top to the bedside.
